I hate slipping back like this, but the amount of mail that rolls in can have wild fluctuations in either direction week to week. PaperKarma has been having problems ever since the update to iOS8. I hope that they work everything out soon. I have a huge backlog of requests right now. And I have ratcheted up the revenge meter. I have sent out my first DMA Ethics Case Complaint form. It is for State Department Watch. I have emailed State Department Watch, I got no response. When I called them no one picked up the phone. Oh, now it is on State Department Watch. Look for that at the bottom with the pre-paid envelopes and the form 1500’s.

This is a momentous week. I have dropped 100 pieces of junk mail per week, from when I started. I can see the light at the end of the junk mail tunnel. I am in a holding pattern until mid-October when I will be dropped from HSP Direct and Nova List. So, no emails to anyone new until then. I am entering every mailpiece into PaperKarma, where I have over 200 requests.

I got some free newspapers while I was at my favorite taco stand this week. I ran them through my shredder, and now I have a new fun way to stuff envelopes.

This is the pre-paid return envelope for Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine they are the medical wing of PETA. So for them, I pulled one of the ads from the Publishers Clearing House mailpiece I got this week. It is for stuffing burgers. Burgers are a no,no if you are a member of Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine.

A note telling them to remove her from their mailing list, a little shred paper and a sprinkle of glitter.

I am going to get real this week. So far I have only sent form 1500’s to scammers. This week I will send out a form 1500 for Citizens United.

I have contacted them, HSP Direct the people who make their mailers, and NOVA List the people in charge of their mailing lists, multiple times and in multiple ways. None of them have gotten back to me.

This week I got 5 pieces of mail form various branches of Citizens United. I am over it. When the form 1500 gets processed, all mail from Citizens United will stop. All mail from HSP Direct will stop. I am hoping that I will also be erased from NOVA List as well.

Update: It didn’t work because they aren’t selling anything in the mail piece. I may have to escalate form email to phone calls.

Update 2: When they didn’t get back to me I should have sent in a complaint to the DMA.

Oh heck no! I thought I got rid of you. Policy Issues Institute junk mail is back from the dead.

Don’t keep sending me stuff I will just do more research:
“By sending campaign brochures through the Policy Issues Institute in Irvine, political consultants save 15% to 20% on mailing costs because of discounts the U.S. Postal Service gives to nonprofits, according to a solicitation sent out by the institute’s paid marketer and political mail guru Bill Butcher. Financial records released by the institute show that those savings were significant enough that consultants paid $2.3 million to the institute for such purposes during last year’s elections.”

Keep this in mind for later in the post. I will let you figure out who is using this “one weird trick” to save on postage.

But since they sent me 4 more, I will do more digging. Bizapedia page. The main contact is Steve Eichler from the Tea Party.org group above. Major Joe Gilbert and Bob Russell are just a couple of tea baggers following Steve around. This is fine, it means the Tea Party.org mail will stop also. Guys, some advise: If I am getting 3 of your mailers in 1 day, you are sending too many, too often. And get a website. I recommend WordPress. They are free, and you can customize them easily. But I am biased.

Dick Morris‘s Stop Hillary Now. I get one or the other of these every week. This is the first time I have gotten them together. I think the group’s main purpose is to find the worst photos of Hillary Clinton possible. Opt out here comment@stophillarypac.org

But really, it was the week of the giant envelope. Hay! I know how to stand out in the crowd! A huge envelope. They can’t miss it! Um yah about that. You don’t stand out if I get 8 of them.

This week the junk mail went back down to normal levels of craziness, only 124 pieces. I’m starting to be able to tell that all the emails I have sent out are having an effect. I only got 4 letters from The National Center for Public Policy Research. When you consider that I was getting 8 in one week, before I contacted them that is a drop of 50%. I will take what I can get.

Let’s do the rundown of this weeks biggest spammers

Citizens Against Government Waste. Wiki Page, Source Watch page, Charity Navigator page 2 stars (they are a 501(c)3). Oh the sweet, sweet irony of someone who is against waste, sending me 2 junk mail letters in one day, is so delicious.

Mike Huckabee c/o Secure America Now. A nice beak down by Institute for Policy Studies.

U.S. Veterans Hospice Committee. Could not find any independent information about them. Opt-out here.

The Black Republican Fund BRPAC run by Edward Cousar. New York Times article about PACs that raise a lot of money but don’t spend it on candidates, that mentions the Black Republican PAC. This is not the same group as Black Republican Freedom Fund. The National Black Republican Association has a page devoted to telling everyone that their PAC is not that PAC. LOL You guys are the same, taking money from old ladies.

Freedom Watch. You did not just start auto playing a song on your website. Is this a GeoCities site in 1995? Any way, Freedom Watch is run by Larry Klayman, he also founded Judicial Watch (example of junk mail from Judicial Watch) Source Watch page for Larry. This mail is made by Response Unlimited. I have done an entire post about them.
